PushEngage now supports Microsoft Edge Browser Push Notifications

What Is It?

PushEngage now supports Web Push Notifications on Microsoft Edge and is one of the early platforms to do so!

At PushEngage we are committed to supporting all leading browsers which support web push notification, and now Microsoft Edge is supported.

In a related news Chrome browsers on Windows 10 have decided to use native Windows experience for web push notifications, which we wrote about here.  This had an impact on click rates and how the Chrome push notifications appear, and we wrote some tips on increasing click rates with new changes, so do check this article out.

Chrome, Safari, and Mozilla were the early browsers to add web push notification but it was not enabled on Internet Explorer.  Microsoft decided to release it on the newer version of their browser i.e. on Edge.

This means that all your visitors who visit your website using edge will now get the opt-in for subscription and can subscribe to the notifications.  This increases the eligible browsers on PushEngage and should help you get more subscribers.

How does it work?

It works the same way as any other browser. The user will first get a prompt where he can decide to subscribe to the notification or not as the user’s consent is important in web push notifications.

Unlike other browsers, users will the opt-in for subscription at the bottom of the screen. However, when you send a push notification users will get it at the bottom-right corner of the screen which is the same as how web push notifications work on Chrome and Firefox using Windows.
