PushEngage vs WebEngage:
which one fits a mid-market retention team?
WebEngage is a customer data and agentic marketing platform, headquartered in Mumbai, that runs email, SMS, WhatsApp, push, on-site messages, and analytics on one customer record, sold through a demo and an order form. PushEngage is web push, app push, in-app, WhatsApp, and chat that your marketing team runs itself, at prices on the page. Here is where each one wins.

Reliability and trust
What a retention team needs before it signs an order form.
A new vendor still has to pass the security review and the budget meeting. Here is what you can check today, without a sales call.
Prices you can put in the budget today
Every public tier is on the pricing page, billed on active subscribers, web and app combined. The number in the proposal is the number on the invoice.
- Published tiers from 1,000 to 250,000 subscribers
- No per-message fees on push; each plan includes a monthly sending volume
- Inactive Subscriber Cleanup on every plan
- Enterprise quoted above 250,000
Send controls that protect the channel
Browsers now throttle senders who over-message. Cap how often each subscriber hears from a triggered campaign and send in their timezone.
- Daily and weekly frequency caps on triggered campaigns, Growth and above
- Quiet hours inside Workflows
- Subscriber-timezone sending on Premium and above
GDPR and CCPA in the defaults
Every subscription is a browser or device permission grant. Add a pre-permission consent overlay where your audience needs one.
- Configurable pre-permission overlay per site
- One-click unsubscribe at the device level
A dashboard for marketers, an API for engineers
Your team runs campaigns from the dashboard. When you would rather hand it off, an MCP server lets Claude or Cursor work the account.
- AI Copywriter through AI-powered campaigns, a paid credit add-on on Business, Premium, and Growth (included on Enterprise)
- First-party MCP server for Claude, Claude Code, and Cursor
- REST API, SDKs, and Zapier on every plan, webhooks on Growth
- Open-source Agent Skills for SDK integration
Support that scales with the plan
Email support on every paid plan. Growth and Enterprise add direct access to customer success and onboarding with your first campaign set up for you, and Enterprise gets a technical onboarding contact.

The 30-second version
Two different tools, two different buyers.
WebEngage is built to unify customer data and run journeys across every channel from one platform. PushEngage is built to run the retention channels a marketing team owns, fast, at a published price. Pick on the job, not on the logo.
Your marketing team runs push itself
Plugins for WordPress, WooCommerce, and Shopify, or our JavaScript and a service worker file on any other site, then campaigns from the dashboard. No SDK project before the first web push.
You want a price before a contract
Every tier from Free to Growth is on the pricing page, billed on active subscribers. WebEngage has no pricing page; fees and committed quantities go in an order form.
Email, SMS, WhatsApp, and push in one journey
WebEngage runs email, SMS, WhatsApp, RCS, mobile push, web push, in-app, on-site messages, and ad audiences from one Journey Designer, with funnels and paths. PushEngage does not send email or SMS.
A customer data platform and regional hosting
CDPx models orders, policies, or bookings as their own objects, and WebEngage lists data centers in the US, India, Saudi Arabia, and Europe. If your data model or data residency drives the decision, that counts.
Side by side
WebEngage and PushEngage, row by row.
Every WebEngage cell comes from WebEngage’s own site, knowledge base, and developer docs, checked on October 5, 2026. Where WebEngage is stronger, the table says so.
| WebEngage | PushEngage | |
|---|---|---|
| How it describes itself | A “Customer Data and Agentic Marketing Platform” (its homepage title): CDPx, Analytics, Segmentation, Campaigns, Automation, and Personalization on one customer record, plus Atlas AI agents and the BLACK growth agent. Headquartered in Mumbai. | Web push, app push, in-app, WhatsApp, and a chat widget for marketing teams at eCommerce stores, publishers, and SaaS products that want retention channels without an engineering queue. |
| Published prices | No. webengage.com has no pricing page; its call to action is “Request Demo”. | Yes, every public tier. Free, Business, Premium, and Growth are priced on /pricing/. Enterprise is quoted. Budget before the first call |
| How the contract works | An Order Form under its Master Subscription Agreement sets services, quantities, and fees. Committed quantities (such as users, API calls, or messages sent) bind for the term, and use above them “may be subject to additional fees”. | Billed on active subscribers, web and app combined, monthly or yearly. No per-message fees on push; each plan includes a monthly sending volume (40, 50, or 75 times your subscriber count on Business, Premium, and Growth). 14-day money-back guarantee and a free plan for 1 site and 200 subscribers. Try before you commit |
| Channels | Fifteen channels from one composer, per its homepage: email, mobile push, web push, in-app, on-site notifications and surveys, SMS, WhatsApp, RCS, Viber, Google Ads, Meta, and TikTok audiences, with voice/IVR and LINE as integrations. Broader | Web push, app push, in-app messaging on every plan, with usage limits by plan (live, Android SDK first, more SDKs to follow), WhatsApp automation through your own Meta Business account (order updates on paid plans, cart recovery from Growth), and a chat widget with 21 channels plus custom links. No email or SMS sending. |
| Journeys and send controls | Journey Designer with event, segment, and attribute triggers, waits, conditions, and Call API steps. Its Split block for percentage branches is “only available for selected customers in beta mode”, per its docs. Contextual Journeys run one journey per order. Frequency caps per channel or across channels, DND hours, and control groups. | Workflows on every plan. Free: 1 active workflow of up to 5 steps. Business: 5 active workflows, 10 steps, with Wait, Decision, and Exit steps. Premium: 20 active workflows, 25 steps, adding Split Path and Workflow Chaining. Growth: unlimited workflows and steps, adding HTTP request actions. Daily and weekly frequency caps on triggered campaigns (Growth and above), quiet hours inside Workflows. |
| Send-time optimization | Send Intelligently picks a best time per user for push, SMS, web push, email, and WhatsApp, from past interactions. Its docs ask you to contact your Customer Success Manager to use it. Per-user timing | Partly. Subscriber-timezone sending on Premium and above: you pick the hour and each subscriber gets the campaign at that hour on their own clock. A/B tests on send time, also Premium and above. No per-subscriber send-time prediction. |
| Funnels and journey analytics | Funnels, cohorts, paths, and retention on live events (its homepage), and a Paths tool that shows what users do before and after an event and where they exit. Conversion and revenue tracking per campaign, channel, and journey. Deeper | No funnel or path reports. Goal tracking on Premium and above ties orders, signups, and revenue to the campaign or workflow that drove them, with workflow analytics and goal nodes. |
| Opt-in tracking | Web push opt-in as a two-step popup or a one-step native browser prompt. Safari on iOS 16.4+ needs a preceding custom prompt. The Web Push overview reports new subscribers, unsubscribes, and reachability. | On the web, opt-in conversion metrics (Premium and above) report the custom prompt and the browser’s native prompt as separate steps, with allow, block, and close counts. Smart Opt-in Reminder and targeted opt-in triggers on every plan. In apps, an in-app message can carry a request-permission button, with impression and button-click counts (Android SDK first). |
| Web on-site popups | On-site notifications (modal, callout, header, footer) with templates such as welcome popups, cart recovery, and spin-to-win, plus on-site surveys and web in-line content. Yes | No promotional popups for websites. PushEngage popups on your site are push opt-in prompts, and the chat widget runs on your site. In-app messages run inside mobile apps. |
| AI and testing | Atlas, a set of AI agents inside WebEngage that also connects to MCP clients, and BLACK, which it calls an outcome-based growth agent. Up to 5 variations per campaign, with the winner sent automatically. Product recommendations. | AI Copywriter through AI-powered campaigns, a paid credit add-on on Business, Premium, and Growth (included on Enterprise), a first-party MCP server for Claude and Cursor, and A/B tests that send the winner to everyone else on Premium and above. |
| Web push setup | Add the Web SDK snippet to each page and a publicly accessible service-worker.js at your site root, with code that differs by data center. If you already register a service worker, you turn off WebEngage’s registration. | Plugins for WordPress, WooCommerce, and Shopify. On any other site, add our JavaScript and a service worker file at your site root, once. A no-code opt-in prompt builder in the dashboard. No developer on WordPress or Shopify |
| Shopify and WooCommerce | A one-click Shopify app that tracks store events once you enable its app embed, and a Salla integration. For WooCommerce, check with WebEngage. | A Shopify and Shopify Plus app, a WooCommerce plugin, and ready cart abandonment, browse abandonment, price drop, and back-in-stock campaigns on Growth. |
| SDKs | Web, Android, iOS, React Native, Flutter, Cordova, Ionic Capacitor, Expo, and Unity for iOS, plus AMP and smart TV guides, a REST API, and webhooks. | Web, iOS, Android, Flutter, and React Native, all five on every plan, with the REST API and Zapier. Webhooks on Growth. |

Pricing
What you can budget before a sales call.
WebEngage does not publish prices, so there is no honest dollar-for-dollar comparison. What we can show is what PushEngage costs at three common sizes, at the standard annual renewal rate you pay from year two. First-year pricing is lower, from $8/month, billed yearly.
The growing store
20,000 active subscribers, web and app combined
quote on request, set in an order formQuote
lowest plan that fits, standard annual renewal, billed yearly$1,020/yr
adds cart, browse, price drop, back in stock$1,828/yr
WebEngage prices this profile in a sales conversation. PushEngage prices it on the page.
The established brand
50,000 active subscribers, web and app combined
quote on request, quantities committed for the termQuote
lowest plan that fits, standard annual renewal, billed yearly$1,920/yr
adds cart, browse, price drop, back in stock$3,489/yr
Past 50,000 subscribers Business stops and Premium or Growth takes over.
The multi-site retailer
100,000 active subscribers, web and app combined
quote on request, new modules on a separate order formQuote
lowest plan that fits, standard annual renewal, billed yearly$4,412/yr
adds cart, browse, price drop, back in stock$6,258/yr
Premium covers 2 sites; Growth covers 3 and the eCommerce automations.
PushEngage prices are the standard annual renewal rate for each plan at that subscriber cap, from the live plans API on October 5, 2026. Taxes excluded. Each plan includes a monthly sending volume listed on the pricing page, which also has the calculator and the current first-year offer. On the WebEngage side, its Master Subscription Agreement says new modules outside your order form may come at an additional cost, so ask which channels and products the quote includes.
Where we will not pretend
Four things a fair WebEngage comparison says out loud.
- WebEngage does more. Email, SMS, RCS, ad audience sync, on-site surveys, web personalization, product recommendations, and a customer data platform are real capabilities PushEngage does not have. If one platform for every channel and every chart is the goal, WebEngage is built for it.
- A quote is not a verdict. WebEngage prices by order form, so we cannot tell you it costs more for your profile. Get the quote, then compare it against the numbers above.
- Two tools can be the right answer. Keeping WebEngage for email and analytics and adding a dedicated push tool is a valid setup. If you do that, cap frequency in both.
- WebEngage predicts and charts more. Send Intelligently picks a send time per user, Funnels and Paths show where people drop off, and on-site notifications run offer popups. PushEngage sends at the hour you choose in each subscriber’s timezone, reports conversions through goal tracking, and has no website popups beyond its opt-in prompts.
What the published price includes
Everything a push program needs, run from one dashboard.
Every paid tier includes web and app push on one subscriber profile, Workflows, behavior-based segmentation, and Inactive Subscriber Cleanup. Premium adds Split Path, goal tracking, A/B tests, and timezone sending. Growth adds triggered campaigns with frequency caps and the eCommerce automations.
One composer for the browser and the lock screen
Write it once and send it to Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari, and to iOS and Android, from the same screen. One audience, one report.
- Native SDKs for iOS, Android, React Native, and Flutter on every plan
- Live preview per platform, plus AI-powered campaigns, a paid credit add-on (included on Enterprise)
- Scheduling and recurring sends, with timezone delivery on Premium and above
eCommerce automations you switch on
Order received, on hold, cancelled, shipped, plus cart abandonment. Each is a ready campaign behind a toggle, and each reports the revenue it brought back.
- Cart and browse abandonment, price drop, and back in stock on Growth
- Order and shipping updates that answer where-is-my-order before the ticket
- Goal tracking on Premium and above ties revenue to the campaign that earned it
Workflows: wait, decide, act
A drag-and-drop canvas for welcome series, cart recovery, and win-backs. Wait, branch on behavior, then send or move the subscriber to a segment. Higher plans add split paths, starting another workflow, and HTTP requests.
- The builder is on every plan: Free runs 1 active workflow of up to 5 steps
- Business: 5 active workflows, 10 steps each, with wait and decision nodes
- Split Path and Workflow Chaining on Premium and above; HTTP request actions on Growth
Trigger rules your team sets without a ticket
On Growth and above, start a campaign on any event your site or app fires, stop it on another, and cap how often one subscriber hears from you.
- Custom start and stop events from the SDK or REST API
- Daily and weekly frequency capping on triggered campaigns
- UTM parameters added to every click URL
Segments built on active subscribers
Send to everyone, to a saved audience group such as active subscribers, or to a segment by URL, geography, device, or purchase behavior. Groups update themselves.
- Dynamic segments and audience groups without a developer
- Attributes set from the SDK or API for one-to-one copy
- Inactive Subscriber Cleanup keeps the count and the bill honest
A/B tests that pick their own winner
Test two headlines, images, or calls to action on a sample. After the delay you set, the better click rate goes to everyone else.
- Sample size and delay under your control
- Winner chosen on click-through rate
- On Premium and above
Opt-in prompts that earn the Allow click
When the prompt fires matters more than what it says. Trigger it by time on page, scroll depth, or a click, match it to your site, and segment subscribers as they join.
- Popup templates with desktop and mobile previews
- Triggers by time on page, scroll depth, or button click
- Segment on subscribe so the first campaign is already targeted
Start from a template, not a blank field
Broadcast templates by category, each tagged with its own UTM so you can see which style earns the click. Pick one, swap the copy, send.
- Templates for sales, launches, content, and win-backs
- UTM tracking per template for clean attribution
- Blank template when you want full control

Switching or adding
Run it next to WebEngage first, then decide.
You do not have to rip anything out to find out. Add PushEngage for one program, compare on real traffic, and decide before your WebEngage order form renews.
One installer for every platform you run
Pick your platform, paste one snippet or install the plugin, and you are live. Mobile follows the same path with the native SDKs.
- WordPress, Shopify, HubSpot, AMP, PrestaShop, Wix, or any site
- iOS, Android, Flutter, and React Native SDKs for app push
- Service worker and install code generated in the dashboard
Pick the program to move
Start where setup time hurts most. For many teams that is web push, which PushEngage installs from a plugin, or app push campaigns waiting on a developer.
- Keep email, SMS, and analytics where they are
- Map the segments you need to recreate
- Book a demo to scope it with our team
Move web and app subscribers
Web push: if WebEngage can export each subscriber’s endpoint, auth key, p256dh, and VAPID keys, we import the list. If not, silent resubscribe brings people over on their next visit with no second opt-in, so reachability starts lower and climbs as they return. App push: reuse your App Push ID, p12 certificate, and Firebase Sender ID, and plan the cutover around your app versions.
- WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify, and Shopify Plus plugins
- iOS, Android, Flutter, and React Native SDKs
- REST API and Zapier for your engineers, webhooks on Growth
Compare on real traffic, then cut over
Run both for a few weeks, compare clicks and attributed revenue, then decide what moves. Paid plans carry a 14-day money-back guarantee.
- Goal tracking on Premium and above
- Split Path tests on Premium and above
- Our team helps you plan the cutover on a demo call
The short version
Published prices. No order form to find out.
WebEngage prices every account in a sales conversation. PushEngage puts the price on the page and the web push setup in a plugin, for the team that wants retention running this week.

Questions, answered.
Is PushEngage a WebEngage alternative?
For web push, app push, in-app, WhatsApp, and chat, PushEngage covers the job for many mid-market retention teams, and your marketing team can run it without an SDK project for web push. It is not a replacement for all of WebEngage: PushEngage does not send email, SMS, or RCS, has no customer data platform, and does not have WebEngage’s funnel and path analytics. If you need those in one contract, WebEngage is the better fit.
How much does WebEngage cost?
WebEngage does not publish prices. Its site has no pricing page and sends you to a demo request. Its Master Subscription Agreement says fees and committed quantities are set in an Order Form for the term, and use above those quantities may carry additional fees. PushEngage publishes every tier from Free to Growth and bills on active subscribers.
Does PushEngage have send-time optimization?
Partly. On Premium and above, PushEngage sends in each subscriber’s own timezone: schedule 9 AM and every subscriber gets it at 9 AM local time. You can also A/B test send times on Premium and above. It does not predict a best send time for each subscriber. WebEngage Send Intelligently does that for push, SMS, web push, email, and WhatsApp, switched on through its customer success team. If per-user timing is a must, weigh that in your evaluation.
Can we run PushEngage alongside WebEngage?
Yes. Keep WebEngage for email, SMS, and analytics and run app push and in-app from PushEngage, or move web push to PushEngage and keep the rest. Set frequency caps in both tools so one customer does not hear from you twice for the same cart. In PushEngage, caps apply to triggered campaigns on Growth and above.
Can we move our WebEngage subscribers to PushEngage?
There are two paths for web push. If WebEngage can export each subscriber’s endpoint, auth key, p256dh, and VAPID keys, PushEngage imports the list directly. If it cannot, silent resubscribe brings people over on their next visit with no second opt-in, so reachability starts lower and climbs as they return. For app push, you reuse your App Push ID, p12 certificate, and Firebase Sender ID, and plan the cutover around your app versions. Book a demo and we will plan it with you.
Which is faster to set up for web push?
On PushEngage, install the WordPress, WooCommerce, or Shopify plugin, or on any other site add our JavaScript and a service worker file at your site root once, then design the opt-in prompt in the dashboard. WebEngage’s developer guide has you add its Web SDK snippet to each page and host a publicly accessible service-worker.js at your site root, with code that depends on your data center.
How does PushEngage pricing scale?
By active subscribers, web and app combined. At standard annual renewal, 20,000 subscribers is $1,020 a year on Business, 50,000 is $1,920, and 100,000 is $4,412 on Premium. First-year pricing is lower, from $8/month, billed yearly. There are no per-message fees on push; each plan includes a monthly sending volume (40, 50, or 75 times your subscriber count on Business, Premium, and Growth).
Does PushEngage work with Shopify and WooCommerce?
Yes. PushEngage has a Shopify and Shopify Plus app and a WordPress and WooCommerce plugin. Cart abandonment, browse abandonment, price drop, and back-in-stock campaigns are ready to switch on from the Growth plan. WebEngage offers a one-click Shopify app and a Salla integration; for WooCommerce, ask WebEngage.
What does WebEngage do that PushEngage does not?
Email, SMS, RCS, Viber, ad audience sync to Google, Meta, and TikTok, on-site notifications and surveys, web in-line personalization, product recommendations, a customer data platform, per-user best time to send, funnels and path analytics, and data centers in four regions. If those are on your list, keep WebEngage or evaluate it. If your list is push, in-app, WhatsApp, and chat, PushEngage is built for that job.
