Go to PushEngage dashboard->Click on Segmentation. Now click on “+” sign to create a segment.

  • On page visit
  • Include URL
  • Exclude URL

You do not need to select any. Just give a name to the segment and click on create.

Step 2: Code integration

Now you have successfully created the “Cart-Abandonment” segment. When someone adds a product to the cart, they will be added to the Cart-Abandonment segment.

Once they make the purchase, they will be removed from the segment.

For this, you to integrate one line of code on your website.

Cart-Abandonment – To track users, who abandoned their cart, you need to call the below function.


Call the above function on button click. E.g. you have a button called – “Add to Cart”. When a person clicks on “Add-to-cart” button, this function should also be called. It will add the subscriber to “Cart-abandonment segment.

Cart-Abandonment segment will have all the customers who added the product to the cart but didn’t convert yet.

You need to track users who have converted and remove them from the “Cart-Abandonment” list. Call the below function once payment is done. Usually, it is the payment success page or thank you page.


This way the segment “Cart-Abandonment” will only have those people who haven’t completed their transaction.

Step 3: Create a Drip Campaign for Cart Abandonment Segment

The last and important thing is to create a Cart Abandonment campaign in Drip.

Go to PushEngage Dashboard->Automation and go to Drip Autoresponder.

Now, click on “Create Drip autoresponder” to create the campaign.

Follow the below steps to create the drip campaign:

  • Name the autoresponder name. Let’s name is “Cart Abandonment”
  • Click on Select Audience. Here the audience will be “Cart-Abandonment” segment that we have created above. Select that segment only.

  • Add UTM Parameters – By default UTM parameters will be added. However, you should edit and put the right UTM parameters which you will use to track conversions.
  • Create Notifications – Create notifications for cart abandonment. You can copy the notifications from cart abandonment templates.
    You can set the time when you want to send push notifications to the user. Put some delay of 30 mins for the 1st notification. You can add multiple notifications to the campaign. Add delay for each of the notification.

The notification will be sent automatically to subscribers who are in this segment. Once the customer makes the purchase he will move out the segment and the cart abandonment notification will not go to him.
