Frequency Capping

Your best shoppers trigger the most pushes.
Cap them before they click Block.

On Growth and Enterprise, you set a daily limit (up to 200) and a weekly limit (up to 2,000) per subscriber on every triggered campaign. Set cart abandonment to 2 a day, and a shopper who abandons four carts on Monday gets two pushes, not four.

Why it works

Behavior fires the trigger. You decide how often it lands.

A shopper comparing products can qualify for browse abandonment five times before lunch. Caps, stop events and expiry keep your most engaged customers from becoming your most annoyed ones.

A ceiling on every triggered campaign

Set a daily and a weekly limit per subscriber on cart abandonment, browse abandonment, price drop, back in stock and custom triggers. Each campaign enforces its own cap.

Sequences that stop when shoppers convert

Cart recovery stops at checkout and browse recovery stops at add-to-cart, so the second and third push never reach someone who already acted.

Pushes that don’t pile up

Set each push to expire before the next one fires, and use quiet hours in Workflows to pause sends overnight in each subscriber’s local time.

How it works

From too many pushes to the right number.

Cart abandonment trigger with a two-push notification sequence

Three settings on every triggered campaign

Frequency caps limit how often a campaign reaches one subscriber. Stop events end the sequence when the shopper buys. Notification duration clears a push before the next one lands.

  • Daily limit 1 to 200, weekly limit 1 to 2,000 per subscriber
  • Suggested start for cart recovery: 2 a day, 6 a week
  • Expiry up to 28 days, set shorter than the next step’s delay

Keep broadcasts and your list in check too

Broadcasts aren’t capped, so aim them instead. Exclude people you’ve reached recently, send on each subscriber’s local clock, and remove dormant subscribers by hand.

  • Engagement filters by last sent, clicked or viewed date (Business+)
  • Timezone delivery for broadcasts (Premium+)
  • Inactive Subscriber Cleanup with a preview before anything is removed (Business+)

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Does PushEngage support frequency capping?

Yes. On Growth and Enterprise, each triggered campaign (cart abandonment, browse abandonment, price drop, back in stock and custom triggers) has a daily limit of up to 200 and a weekly limit of up to 2,000 notifications per subscriber. The weekly limit can’t be lower than the daily one.

Does one cap cover all my campaigns?

No. Each triggered campaign applies its own cap, and broadcasts, drips, RSS and workflows aren’t capped. Keep every campaign’s cap conservative. Our guidance is no more than 3 triggered pushes per subscriber per day across all campaigns.

Are caps on by default?

No. A new triggered campaign sends on every qualifying event until you set a limit. Suggested starting points: cart abandonment 2 a day and 6 a week, browse abandonment 1 and 5, price drop and back in stock 1 and 3.

Which plan includes it?

Growth and Enterprise, where frequency capping comes with triggered campaigns. Engagement filters and Inactive Subscriber Cleanup start on Business. Paid plans carry a 14-day money-back guarantee.
