PushEngage Agent Skills

PushEngage Agent Skills is a plugin that teaches AI coding agents how to integrate and debug the PushEngage SDK in your mobile app. Version 1.0.0 is the first release, and the skills follow two open standards, the Agent Skills (SKILL.md) standard and the Agent Plugins format, so they work with any agent that supports either one, including Claude Code, Cowork, Cursor, Codex, Copilot, Windsurf, and VS Code. This guide explains what it includes and how to install it.

Before You Start

  • You need a PushEngage account with an app configured in the dashboard.
  • You need an AI coding agent that supports Agent Skills or Agent Plugins. Claude Code is recommended.
  • For the account tools, the plugin uses Node.js 18 or later to run the bundled MCP server through npx.

What PushEngage Agent Skills Does

The plugin gives your agent step-by-step knowledge of the PushEngage SDK so it can wire up and troubleshoot push notifications without you hunting through docs.

  • Full SDK integration flows for iOS, Android, Flutter, and React Native.
  • A diagnostic skill that audits a broken integration, matches your SDK version against a version-pinned known-issues table, and walks a symptom decision tree when the audit comes up empty.
  • The PushEngage MCP server bundled inside the plugin, so your agent can also operate your account, such as sending and scheduling notifications, building segments, and reading analytics.

The plugin ships six skills that work together.

SkillPurpose
pushengageEntry skill. Detects your platform and routes to the right one.
pushengage-iosiOS integration and debugging.
pushengage-androidAndroid integration and debugging.
pushengage-flutterFlutter integration and debugging.
pushengage-react-nativeReact Native integration and debugging.
pushengage-debugShared diagnostic skill for broken integrations.

How the Skills Work

Each skill activates automatically based on the project it detects. The entry skill identifies your platform and hands off to the matching integration skill. When something is broken, the diagnostic skill runs in three stages: first a static audit of your setup, then a match against known issues for your SDK version, and finally a symptom-driven decision tree. If it still cannot resolve the problem, it packages a support bundle you can send to the PushEngage team.

Install in Claude Code or Cowork

Add the plugin marketplace and install the plugin.

/plugin marketplace add awesomemotive/pushengage-skills
/plugin install pushengage

Installing the plugin also configures the official PushEngage MCP server (@pushengage/mcp). The first time your agent uses an account tool, it opens a browser window to log in to your PushEngage account. Until you log in, the account tools stay idle.

Install in Other Agents

For Cursor, Codex, Copilot, Windsurf, and other SKILL.md-compatible agents, use the skills CLI.

Install in Agent Plugins Clients

The repository also conforms to the open Agent Plugins format, with a plugin.json manifest, a skills/ directory, and an mcp.json. Any client that supports Agent Plugins can load it as a plugin. Compatible clients currently include VS Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT and Codex, Kiro, Hermes Agent, OpenClaw, Grok Bot, and NanoClaw. Use your client’s own plugin-install mechanism and point it at the awesomemotive/pushengage-skills repository. Clients that support the plugin’s mcp.json also get the official MCP server configured automatically.

Install Manually

The skills live under the skills/ directory in the awesomemotive/pushengage-skills repository. Copy the skill folders into your agent’s skills directory, or point your agent at the repository. Each skill activates automatically based on the project type it detects.

Using the Skills

After installing, talk to your agent in plain language. For example:

  • “Help me integrate PushEngage into this app.” This runs the full integration flow.
  • “PushEngage notifications are not arriving on my iPhone.” This runs the diagnostic flow.
  • “Audit my PushEngage setup.” This runs the static audit.

The plugin detects your platform automatically and hands off to the matching integration or debug skill. With the MCP server connected, you can also operate your account, for example, “Send a notification titled ‘Sale ends tonight’ to my US segment” or “How did last week’s campaign perform?”

If you prefer to follow the integration steps yourself, see the PushEngage Mobile SDK documentation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which agents does this work with?

The skills follow both the Agent Skills (SKILL.md) standard and the Agent Plugins format, so they work with any agent that supports either one, including Claude Code, Cowork, Cursor, Codex, Copilot, Windsurf, and VS Code. Claude Code and Cowork install it as a plugin, other SKILL.md agents add it through the skills CLI, and Agent Plugins clients load it through their own plugin-install mechanism.

Which platforms are supported?

The plugin includes integration and debugging flows for iOS, Android, Flutter, and React Native. The entry skill detects your platform automatically and hands off to the matching skill.

Do I need to set anything up for the account tools?

You need Node.js 18 or later, since the bundled MCP server runs through npx. The first time your agent uses an account tool, it opens a browser window for you to log in to PushEngage. Until then, the account tools stay idle and the integration and debugging skills still work.

What does the diagnostic skill check?

It runs a static audit of your integration, matches your SDK version against a version-pinned known-issues list, and walks a symptom decision tree. If it cannot find the cause, it prepares a support bundle for the PushEngage team.

Is it free to use?

The plugin is released under the MIT license. You still need a PushEngage account with an app configured to use it.
