If you run fundraising campaigns on WordPress using WPCharitable, PushEngage now integrates directly with Charitable Pro to let you send automated push notifications at the moments that matter most – when someone donates, when a campaign hits a milestone, when a campaign launches, and when a campaign is about to close.
This means donors and subscribers on your list get timely, personalized alerts straight to their desktop or mobile device, without needing their phone number and without getting buried in an inbox.

Avant de commencer
- Charitable Pro 1.8.16 or later installed and active on your WordPress site.
- PushEngage free plugin installed and connected to your PushEngage account. If you have not yet installed it, you can do so from inside the Charitable campaign builder (covered in the setup steps below) or by downloading it from the WordPress plugin directory. A PushEngage account. If you do not have one yet, sign up at pushengage.com.
- At least one published opt-in prompt on your site so visitors can subscribe to push notifications.

Once connected, you are ready to configure notification triggers for each campaign.
The Four Notification Triggers
Each campaign has its own PushEngage settings. You can enable and customize each trigger independently at Campaigns » Choose Campaign and head to Campaign Builder » Marketing » PushEngage.

Donation Thank You
This notification fires the instant a donation completes and is sent only to the donor who just gave. Because it goes out within seconds of the donation, it lands while the moment is still fresh — well before a transactional email would typically arrive.
Use this trigger to reinforce the donor’s decision with a warm, immediate acknowledgment.
Exemple de texte :
- Title:
Thank you, {{donor_first_name}}! - Message:
Your gift to {{campaign_title}} just made a difference. We're so grateful.
Goal Milestone
This notification broadcasts to your entire subscriber list when a campaign crosses 50%, 75%, or 100% of its fundraising goal. It turns a private number in your dashboard into a public, shareable win that creates urgency and social proof for undecided donors.
All three milestone alerts are sent automatically once you enable this trigger — you do not need to configure each percentage separately.
Example copy (75% milestone):
- Title:
{{campaign_title}} is 75% funded! - Message:
We're almost there. Help us cross the finish line — only {{amount_remaining}} left to go.
Campaign Launch
This notification announces a new campaign to everyone who has opted in to notifications on your site. It is sent once, at the moment the campaign goes live.
Use it to give your subscriber list first access and build early momentum before promoting through other channels.
Exemple de texte :
- Title:
New campaign: {{campaign_title}} - Message:
We just launched a new fundraiser and we need your help. See the goal and give today.
Ending Soon
This notification is sent to your subscriber list when a campaign is approaching its end date. It creates a natural deadline that prompts action from donors who have been considering giving.
Exemple de texte :
- Title:
Last chance to give! - Message:
{{campaign_title}} closes soon. Every dollar before the deadline counts.
Customizing Your Notifications
Every trigger has its own editable title, message, and destination link. You can personalize the content using the following placeholders, which Charitable fills in automatically at send time:
| Espace réservé | Ce qu'il insère |
|---|---|
{{donor_first_name}} | The donor’s first name (Donation Thank You only) |
{{campaign_title}} | The name of the campaign |
{{amount_raised}} | The total amount raised so far |
{{goal_amount}} | The campaign’s fundraising goal |
{{amount_remaining}} | The amount still needed to hit the goal |
{{progress_percentage}} | The percentage of the goal reached |
Use the Send Test button in each trigger panel to preview exactly what the notification will look like in a browser before anything goes live. This is the best way to catch formatting issues or truncated copy before it reaches your donors.
Notification Length Best Practices
Push notifications render differently across browsers and operating systems. To ensure your messages look right everywhere:
- Keep titles to 50 characters or fewer.
- Keep message body text to 90 characters or fewer.
- Front-load the most important information like the campaign name or the key ask before any placeholder values, since long substitutions can push text into truncation.
