Answer “where’s my order?”
before anyone asks.
When an order is placed, paid, shipped, or delivered, the Shopify or WooCommerce webhook fires and PushEngage routes the update to the channel that customer actually checks: web push, app push, or a pre-approved WhatsApp template. Templates configure once; every order after that handles itself.

Why it works
Post-purchase silence is a support ticket in progress.
The two minutes after checkout are the highest-anxiety moment a first-time buyer has. A confirmation that lands in seconds starts the repeat-purchase relationship; a shipping update with a tracking link ends the where’s-my-order loop.
Confirmation in seconds
“Your order #4821 is confirmed” lands before the customer has time to second-guess the purchase. First-time buyers learn the brand answers before they ask, and that reassurance is where repeat purchases start.
Tracking link in the notification
Shipping updates carry the carrier tracking URL as a dynamic field from your store’s own order data. The click on that link is the support email that never got written.
Routed to the channel they check
Desktop shoppers get web push, app users get app push, and customers in WhatsApp-first markets get a transactional template. PushEngage checks which channels each customer subscribed to and routes one update, without duplicates.
How it works
Native webhooks in, fewer tickets out.
The full lifecycle, template by template
Placed, paid, shipped, out for delivery, delivered, return initiated: each event maps to a message template you configure once. WooCommerce status transitions and Shopify fulfillment webhooks connect natively, with no Zapier and no custom ETL in between.
- Order confirmation, shipping, and delivery templates
- Custom WooCommerce order statuses supported on Growth
- Transactional copy stays functional; the cross-sell belongs in post-purchase workflows
WhatsApp for the customers email misses
In markets where WhatsApp is the inbox, order updates land there in minutes. Transactional templates sit in Meta’s faster approval category, and customers can reply to the update instead of opening a ticket.
- Pre-approved transactional templates, managed by PushEngage
- Two-way replies in the order thread
- Submit templates ahead of peak season; approval takes 24 to 72 hours

Full order lifecycle templates
Confirmation, shipping, delivery, and returns, each on its own template with order ID, status, and tracking link filled from the webhook payload.

Questions, answered.
Do customers need to opt in to get order notifications?
Yes. Web push and WhatsApp delivery both require the customer to have opted into those channels. Make push opt-in part of your checkout or account flow so the buyer base and the subscriber base overlap before the templates go live.
Can I add promotions to the shipping updates?
You can, but you shouldn’t. Transactional notifications earn high engagement because customers trust them to carry only what they need. Keep the copy functional and save the cross-sell for a post-purchase workflow triggered after delivery.
Do I need a developer to set this up?
Not on Shopify or WooCommerce, where the webhooks connect natively from a settings screen. Headless and custom stacks can fire order events through the REST API and custom trigger campaigns.
Which plans include order notifications?
They start on paid plans. Business covers core confirmation and shipping templates on web push. Premium adds the full lifecycle across web and app push plus WhatsApp transactional templates, and Growth adds multi-channel routing, custom WooCommerce statuses, and Shopify Plus multi-location support.
How long does WhatsApp template approval take?
Typically 24 to 72 hours for standard transactional templates, governed by Meta. Submit at least two weeks before any major sale so the templates are live when the orders spike.
Configure it once. Every order after runs itself.
