The PushEngage browser extension lets you create push campaigns, manage segments, and check insights from any webpage, without opening your dashboard. It auto-fills a campaign from the page you are on, so you can turn something you are reading into a notification in a few clicks. This guide explains how to install it, log in, and use each part.

### Before You Start

- You need a PushEngage account with at least one site. If you do not have one, [create an account](https://www.pushengage.com/signup/?planName=free) with PushEngage, and create a site on the dashboard first.
- Install [the extension](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/pushengage-web-app-push-n/elgnemikobibnpbnhdjilljhapdkolpn "the extension") in Google Chrome or another Chromium-based browser.
- Some features depend on your plan. Goal tracking, A/B testing, and sending in each subscriber’s timezone are Premium features.

### How the Extension Works

The extension adds a PushEngage button to your browser toolbar. When you open it, it reads the current tab so it can pre-fill a campaign from that page, and it talks to your PushEngage account to load your sites, segments, and recent campaigns. Your work happens in a small popup, and results appear on your PushEngage dashboard within a few minutes.

You can also open the campaign composer with a keyboard shortcut: **Alt+Shift+P** on Windows and Linux, or **Command+Shift+P** on Mac.

### Log In

1. Click the PushEngage icon in your browser toolbar.
2. Choose **Log in with PushEngage**. A dashboard login tab opens.
3. Finish logging in on the tab that opens, then return to the extension.

If your session ends later, the extension asks you to log in again. If you are new, use **Create a free account** to sign up first.

### Create a Campaign from the Current Page

Open the extension on any page and it starts a new campaign for you.

- **Auto-fill from page.** The extension fills the title, message, and images from the current tab. You can turn this off in Settings if you prefer to start blank.
- **Content.** Edit the **title**, **message**, and **landing URL**, and insert emoji into the title or message. Add a **hero image**, either one found on the page or your own `https://` image URL. Images must be 1 MB or smaller.
- **Tracking.** Add UTM tags to the campaign, and set a **campaign goal** to measure results. Goal tracking is a Premium feature.
- **Delivery.** Send now, or schedule the campaign. You can set how long the notification stays on screen, and send in each subscriber’s timezone. Timezone sending is a Premium feature.
- **A/B testing.** Let the extension find the best-performing title automatically. A/B testing is a Premium feature.
- **Preview.** Allow notifications on your device to preview the campaign before sending.

When you send or schedule, the extension confirms with “Campaign sent” or “Campaign scheduled,” and the results appear on your dashboard within a few minutes.

### Manage Segments and Audiences

The extension can build and target audiences based on the pages people visit.

- **Add the current page to a segment** so you can group visitors of that page and send to them later.
- **Create a segment** or choose from your existing segments and audience groups.
- Target **all subscribers**, or a specific segment.
- Keep things tidy by cleaning up empty segments.

Building a segment lets you collect an audience you can send campaigns to on any later visit.

### Check Insights

The extension surfaces quick insights so you know what to do next, such as when a campaign’s click rate is below average, when you have been quiet for a while, or when some segments have not been reached recently. You can also open your full analytics report and revenue on the dashboard.

### Switch Sites

If your account has more than one site, the extension shows your sites and lets you switch the active one, so campaigns and segments apply to the site you intend. If you do not see a site, create one on the dashboard first.

### Settings

Open **Settings** in the extension to control:

- **Auto-fill and auto-suggest.** Turn off auto-fill from the page, or auto-suggest on open, if you prefer to start blank.
- **Appearance.** Follow your system theme, or keep light or dark.
- **Notifications.** Allow notifications so you can preview campaigns on your device.

#### Frequently Asked Questions

##### Do I need a PushEngage account to use the extension?

Yes. The extension works with your PushEngage account, so you log in first, and you need at least one site. If you do not have an account, you can [create an account](https://www.pushengage.com/signup/?planName=free) for free, then create a site on the dashboard.

##### How does the extension fill in my campaign automatically?

When you open it on a page, it reads that tab and fills the title, message, and images from the page. You can edit anything before sending, or turn auto-fill off in Settings.

##### Is there a keyboard shortcut?

Yes. Press Alt+Shift+P on Windows and Linux, or Command+Shift+P on Mac, to start a campaign from the current page.

##### Why are some features labeled Premium?

Goal tracking, A/B testing, and sending in each subscriber’s timezone depend on your plan. On some plans a campaign simply opens the landing URL when clicked.

##### Where do my results show up?

On your PushEngage dashboard, within a few minutes of sending. The extension also shows recent campaigns and quick insights, and links to your full analytics report.

##### What happens if the extension cannot reach PushEngage?

It shows your last saved data so you can keep working, and syncs again once the connection returns. If your session has ended, it asks you to log in again.
